Happy 2013!

To EVERYONE who read, reviewed, and spread the word this year about How to Repair a Mechanical Heart—I shower you with hugs, snickerdoodles, cinnamon jelly beans, and the finest champagne (personally vetted by Christopher Walken and his rogue mustache). At this time last year, I was still up to my eyeballs in edits, wondering if anyone else would ever read this weird little book I was writing. THANK YOU for finding it and taking a chance on it. Your reviews, comments, emails, tweets, and Brandon/Abel fanart (!!) seriously meant the world to me this year.

I hope 2013 is your best year yet. I hope you keep your health, read great books, discover new music and art that excites you, and find more time to do what you love best. If you’re a writer, I give you a cheer of encouragement with my special pompoms (made from shredded manuscripts) and a giant can of industrial-strength Self-Doubt Killer. Head over to Twitter if you’re having a bad writing day and let’s chat; writing/editing is always more fun when you have someone to complain with.

Right, but how are Plastic Brandon and Plastic Abel spending New Year’s Eve? There’s sort of a. . .wild party going on at Abel’s house right now, but they stopped the debauchery long enough for a quick picture.

No one even knows who the dude in the cowboy hat is.

Here’s another one of Bec, Abel, and Brandon, ringing in the new year with the Cadmus/Sim action figures:

HAPPY 2013! Stay tuned this year for more Plastic Brandon/Abel silliness, posts about disturbing thrift store finds, dissertations on moldering TV Guides, and (HOPEFULLY) my second novel. Thanks again for an awesome 2012!

  1. “No one even knows who the dude in the cowboy hat is.” Too funny. Happy New Year to you and of course to Plastic Abel and Plastic Brandon, who have brought so much joy to my life.

  2. I like those wishes – I’ll take ’em. I’m actually looking forward to YOUR 2013 – what will we see from you next? Hoping you have as much fun as you did last year. 🙂

  3. Very eager for your next book. Mechanical Heart was fantastic (sorry, I can’t call it HTRAMH, just can’t do it!). Kudos and please keep the Plastic Brandon and Plastic Abel antics coming…

    1. Aww, thanks so much! Glad you liked the book. Am hard at work editing the next one…hope I can finish by late spring/early summer.

Plastic Brandon & Abel are sleeping off their holiday revelry but will probably return for some Valentine’s Day shenanigans. 🙂

  4. […] I hope you had a lovely, naughty-and-nice holiday and a great first week of the new year. We rang in 2015 the way we always do: with our traditional NYE viewing of the Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense concert video, which never, ever gets old (except maybe the “Genius of Love” part). Plastic Brandon and Abel got things off to an inauspicious start with a very low-key New Year’s Eve celebration. Ro put Abel in weird blue pants and made them gamble on the dining-room table, which is a significant step down from their usual standard of revelry. […]
