No Monday post this week, but…

Hey guys,

No Monday post this week, ’cause I’ll be on a business trip. *waves to you from Philly* But stay tuned—we have a near-final cover for Lead Me into Darkness, the Halloween anthology I’m participating in this year. Will post about the cover reveal later this week along with updates on the release date. Really excited to be part of this project; a handful of amazing queer romance authors poured so much creative energy into it, and I can’t believe it’s all coming together in just a month. (That’s how long it takes me to write two chapters sometimes. *points green-eyed stare at fast-drafters*)

This anthology came along at the best possible time—I was really feeling stuck with my WIP. I hadn’t written short fiction since college, and it was fun and useful to flex a different set of muscles. If you’ve hit a wall with your current project, I definitely recommend switching gears for a while and reeling off something short (maybe something in a genre outside tour comfort zone). I always hesitated to do that because it felt like veering off track, but I found out it’s more like pausing at a rest stop to recharge and play on the monkey bars. And it reminded me to be less precious about my words, especially when drafting…which is just what I needed to hear to open up Scrivener and attack this beast of a novel again.

More anthology news later this week!

J
